On August 30th of 2011, a small group of ladies met to discuss a vision. This vision was to start an auxiliary group for Champions for Children (CFC). Building upon their passion for the agency’s mission, our founding members set out to call upon other volunteers and community partners to join in this exciting new initiative. Together, these four women drafted the Auxiliary’s goals and structures. They brainstormed on a way to spread the word about their new group and it was decided then that the Auxiliary would have a kick-off party in January of 2012. Ultimately, this was the beginning of the existing Champions For Children Auxiliary. The Auxiliary’s purpose is to act as an extended hand of the agency and its current members serve as good-will ambassadors for Champions for Children. They are committed to increasing Champions for Children’s visibility within our community, by educating others on the various programs, services and resources we offer. The Auxiliary plans to continue reinforcing the agency’s belief that we can stop child abuse before it starts by building stronger families through child abuse prevent and family education programs.
Of course, raising additional funds for the agency is another one of the Auxiliary’s main objectives. Our members channel their creativity to come up with fun, money making events where the public can get excited, get educated and get involved. The Auxiliary also offers continuous support to the Champions for Children’s Development Department, assisting with annual fundraisers or other functions that the agency has put into place. Christmas In July and the Holiday Store are just a few examples of events that have and will receive direct support from the Auxiliary.
Nearly a year later, the Auxiliary’s membership has grown and the group has successfully hosted it’s first fundraising event. They continue to recruit enthusiastic men and women from our community who want to come together to make a difference. All the while, remembering that the Auxiliary wants to encourage its members to let their creative juices flow, think outside the box and most importantly – have fun.
The vision of the founding members is being realized with each new exciting endeavor and they are only just getting started.
